In my last post, I briefly touched on my obsession with Pinterest. And even if I have said it, I’m saying it again. Yum. Here’s why. At the end of January, I came across this pin:
which linked me to Leah Piken Kolidas blog Creative Every Day. After reading about her CED Challenge for February: Night, I immediately signed up. I love nighttime, especially the moon. What was even more perfect, the painting she had attached to February’s theme page.
Not only was the sign-up free, but the theme page has ideas for getting you started with your craft. I haven’t yet written about night in light of all of the work going into THEE EVENT, but I plan to soon!
After getting the CED Challenge info under my belt, I decided to check out her art on Blue Tree Art Gallery. Leah’s work is so visually stunning and has a dreamy quality that hits me at my core. I found myself holding my breath while looking through her work.
For the past few weeks, I couldn’t get the images from her paintings out of my head.
This one spoke to me so deeply considering I had been in a rut for quite some time, and often find myself in one during colder months.
This next one spoke to the Scorpio in me in the sense that Scorpios are so in tune with their emotions and inner beings and must always be sure to be very attentive to them.
Something about them keeps calling me back, forcing me to sit and admire and fall into them. Suddenly, I realized I wanted to bring them to life. One of my dreams (for a few years now) is to create themed photo anthologies with models, theatrical sets or digitally created backdrops, and poetry or other writings. I would create these books for the purpose of decorating coffee shop tables for patrons to enjoy.
So, yesterday afternoon, I wrote Leah an e-mail asking if she’d be willing to let me bring her work to life. Later that night, I checked my e-mail before bed and found a message from her which she had sent only an hour after I wrote mine. Her response was exactly what I had hoped for:
Katy,
Thank you so much for your kind words! And wow, I would absolutely love to see my paintings brought to life. How amazing! So yes, I say go for it. I can’t wait to see what you come up with!
All the best,
Leah
I am unbelievably excited to pursue this project after the hype of THEE EVENT winds down. I hope to gather my girlfriends and a few past clients of mine to work on this project together. I love, love, LOVE when a little inspiration goes a long way.

I love that you don’t even have to know what you are looking for on Pinterest. Things can just catch your eyes. Thanks for sharing my post!
You’re welcome! I just absolutely loved (and related to) when you said, “Pinterest’s visual format is like coming home. Each picture has a story to tell. Listen closely and you’ll hear it, too.” It’s the best place for inspiration, hands down.
Wonderful! I cannot wait to see them come to life (I love them too!!)
You want to be a part of it?
You, my beautiful daughter, are my sweet, delicious little inspiration. You inspire me in so many ways I can hardly begin to share. Mostly though, you bring out more love, respect and admiration than I ever knew I had. I will NEVER top my greatest creation that is YOU!!! AML/AML Mom
Thank you so much, mom! I wouldn’t be who I am without you. You have always taught me that I can do anything I set my mind to, and so far in life, it’s been the best advice in the world. I’m inspired, constantly, by your unconditional love and support for everyone, not just me. You’re the best cheerleader a gal could have!
Love you too!
